Year 7
Myths and Ledgends

You will study the use of theatre as a tool to tell storys from ancient Greece to the deep jungles of Nigeria while learning basic drama techniques such as still image, thought tracking, physical theatre and narration.
Roald Dahl Revolting Ryhmes

You will experiement with voice, facial expressions and body langusge to create groutesque and fantastic chracters. You will firstly idenitfy the charactristic of Roald Dahl'e revoltign rhymes and then work together in small theatre companies to create, write, devise and perfrom your own revolting rhyme.
Pantomime

You will learn about the history of Pantomime from its roots in the 15 century Comedia Dell'Arte to modern stage productions. You will be able to clearly idenitfy the similarities and differences between original panotmime and contemporary modern day pantomime.
Our Day Out

You will explore the style of naturlaism whilst exploring the play Our Day Out by Willy Russel, a play involving a group of children from Mrs Kay's progress class, based in a low income area of liverpool, following their journey as they take a school trip across the country to Wales. You will be introduced to the Practitioner of Stanislavski, his method and start to explore how to portray the most believable and realistic version of your character.
Shakespeare - Opening a play

We will look at how the bard used various different techniques to open his plays and catch the audienc's attention. pupils will firstly identify the skills and techniques needed to create a strong and engaging opening. They will then practically attempt to recreate the openings of a range of Shakespearean plays, making them engaging and suitable for a contemporary audience.
Devising from Stimulus

This unit requires you to re call on all the new skills and knowledge learnt throughout year 7 and bring together to apply to your own devised performances. Pupils will work in small theatre companies, respond to a range of stimulus to then work independently to create their own performance in a style of their choice.
Year 8
Bloodbrothers and Stanislavski

You will explorethe script of Blood Brothers while deepening your understanding of Stanislavki's Method of acting.
Brecht and Epic Theatre

You will explore the power of theatre to inform and educate while learning about Bertol Brecht and his Epic Theatre.
We will apply his techniques to script extracts from the famous musical Bloodbrothers
Frantic Assembly and Physical Theatre

You will learn about one of the UK's top theatre companies Frantic Assembly and how movement can be used to convey meaning
The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty

You will explore the whole script , looking at identifying key themes within, and having the opportunity to explore, duologues and group scenes, practically in a naturalistic style.
Verbatum Theatre

Verbatim theatre takes the focus away from the emotions within a performance and rather focuses on telling a story.It is created using real life spoken words, taken from facts and interviews.
Practitioner Devising from stimulus

You will choose a practitioner or theatre group and style of theatre that has been explored this year and use that to create your own original piece of drama. You will work together in small theatre companies to establish, the style and purpose of your piece, you will devise practically exploring a range of different roles and responsibilities within the theatre.
Year 9
Physical Skills Component 2

During this module you will complete a wide range of workshops something that you havent yet explored during key stage 3. You will be provided with a physical skill each week and you will be required to practically explore this skill through a workshop as a whole group, and then work in smaller groups to apply this physcial skill directly to a scripted performance, You will then complete a progress log, involving weekly reviews of your progress aplying this skill to your script to develop characterisation.
Vocal Skills Component 2

During this module you will complete a wide range of workshops something that you havent yet explored during key stage 3. You will be provided with a vocal skill each week and you will be required to practically explore this skill through a workshop as a whole group, and then work in smaller groups to apply this vocal skill directly to a scripted performance, You will then complete a progress log, involving weekly reviews of your progress aplying this skill to your script to develop characterisation.

During this component you will explore the perfomring arts. You will examine proffesonal practitioners performance work, you will explore the roles and responsibilities wihtin the thatre, comparing and contrasting them depedant on style. Along with exploring interellations between consistent features and existing performance materials. This component requires you to undertake live theatre reviews as well as explore three different styles of theatre.

You will form a small theatre company and create an original piece of work in response to a set breif.
Performing to an Audience

During this component you will have the opportunity to either devise or perform a scripted performance based either around a topic/theme/story you are passionate about or a script of your choice, this is all dependant on which style you choose. You will work in small theatre companines to expore a wide range of theatre roles and responsibilities such as stage managment, lighting design, sound design, set design and directing.
Year 10

Pupils will explore the style of Comedia Dell arte and trestle mask work, throuhg a range of whole class wrokshops with the intention to build towards their own devised performane in this style.
Responding to a brief Component 3 exam

In this exam component you will be given a brief and a set period of time to devise a group original piece of drama in response to it.
Scripted Showcase

This unit requires you to call upon all knowledge learnt throughtout the year and apply to your own scripted performacne of a whole play. You will performing Two by Jim Cartwright. You will rehearse and refine your original piece of work adding in sound , lighting and costume ready to perform to an audience
Year 11
Coursework completition

In this term you will write up your final coursework ready for submission
