Every five years the Church of England inspect their schools and academies. This is called a “SIAMS Inspection” (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools). It is a Section 48 Inspection, under the 2005 Education Act, and it is a key element to capture what life is in Church of England and Methodist schools in England. It explores the question: “How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?”
Bluecoat Wollaton was inspected under this regime on Wednesday 1st December and Thursday 2nd December 2021 against the following areas:
- Vision and Leadership at all levels
- Wisdom, Knowledge, and Skills
- Character Development: Hope, Aspiration, and Courageous Advocacy
- Community and Living Well Together
- Dignity and Respect
- Impact of Collective Worship
- Effectiveness of Religious Education

We are especially thankful to our friends at St. Leonard’s Church in Wollaton and in particular Revd. Canon Tim Pullen who have continued to help support the school and all of our students to flourish. This report is a great acknowledgement of the very wonderful work that happens here each day and reminds us all that our work changes lives. A list of the other churches that continue to work with us and support us is also available in the menu at the side of this page.
