Crowdfunding for Reader Pens
We are excited to make our first foray into crowdfunding! If you aren’t familiar with crowdfunding, it harnesses the power of social media and the internet to raise money for projects and causes that would otherwise go unfunded. We want to raise money for a number of reader pens to help our students with literacy difficulties access reading materials more independently both at school and home.
Reader pens can instantly scan words and sentences to verbally read them back to students and provide dictionary definitions.
Students with reading difficulties can use these pens to find out how words sound and what words mean. This enhances students’ access to reading materials – developing their independence and confidence.
We would love anyone with a connection to our academy, or a passion for equality of access to education to get involved. Staff, parents, friends, community members, local businesses – everyone is welcome to make a contribution, no matter how big or small.
