Year 7 Email accounts and Microsoft Teams
Over the weekend (4th-5th July) there will be some changes made behind-the-scenes to Year 7 email addresses, so that we can be even better prepared to deliver home learning opportunities to students for the rest of this term and even next year if we needed to.
We are going to be switching student email addresses from Google (gmail) to Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook) and enabling an application called Microsoft Teams.
Students will still be able to access their Google email account until the end of term but any new emails received after the 6th July will go to their new Microsoft account which can be accessed at www.office.com – and then clicking ‘sign in’. Or downloading the ‘outlook’ app and logging in.
Year 7 students will be directed to access their learning for English, Maths and Science via Microsoft Teams, which can be accessed again through the following link and the purple ‘Teams’ app.
Any emails sent by students after the 6th July will come from the Microsoft address.
At BWA, student’s emails will take this new format: email@example.com
Students’ usernames and passwords to log in will be the same as their existing PC ones.
Typically the username is the first initial and their surname.
Other online learning portals such as go4schools, and possibly some learning platforms may still use the old @ac format e-mail address, but will eventually be transitioned.
If students do have any IT problems, please contact our IT helpline on: firstname.lastname@example.org
In order to support students who are having issues logging in/needing password resets etc., we’ve setup a new support address to be emailed directly to get assistance. If you have any issues of this nature, please email: email@example.com. Please however bear in mind that the team are limited as to what they can do with advising on personal software / devices, but issues accessing our schools resources such as google classroom / mail / remote desktop etc can be supported.
