Pastoral Support

Here at Bluecoat Wollaton, students access a wide range of different pastoral supports.

Every year group has its own dedicated Year Leader, who will be the first port of call for any pastoral concerns, both for students and parents. These non-teaching members of staff also act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.

As a Church of England academy, we also have our own Christian Distinctiveness Team, which in addition to delivering our whole school Christian messages, also run Christian Union, the Christian Young Leaders student leadership group, as well as providing mentoring and support to students of all faiths.

Student Support is a department within Bluecoat Wollaton Academy that offers additional of targeted support to help and educate young people socially, emotionally, and behaviorally or with concerns around mental health. By identifying barriers to learning and utilising early interventions, we aim to increase positive outcomes for our students by building self-esteem, confidence and target setting. We utilise an extensive range of strategies and interventions specific to the need and required levels of support. These include supporting the student in and outside the classroom, one-to-one, and targeted small groups. Giving students the opportunity to learn how to express their feelings in a positive and healthy way is key to developing well rounded individuals. As a team we will always listen to students’ concerns and accept them without judgement.
