Entry Requirements / Levels of Study:
Whilst the Sixth Form has no specific entry requirements, there are certain grade profiles which need to be achieved in order to access the different levels of study. These are detailed below accompanied by a brief explanation of who this may be suitable for.
Level 3 (A level or equivalent Vocational courses) – Students wishing to access level 3 courses will need to a minimum of 3 x GCSE A* – C grades and grade 4 or above in both GCSE English & Maths. Students will also need to meet course specific entry requirements as detailed in the current course guide.
Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) – Students wishing to study level 2 courses should have achieved 3 x A* – E grades and grade 2 or above in both GCSE English and maths. This pathway may be suitable for students who didn’t manage to meet the entry requirements for level 3 study at the end of year 11. If students successfully achieve 3 x A* – C grades (including grade 4 or above in English and maths) at the end of their level 2 year they may then progress on to level 3 study the following year.
Foundation learning – Students wishing to study a foundation learning course will be working between entry 1 and level 1 with additional needs. Entry based on information from current education establishment, parents and outside agencies for us to determine if we can meet the needs and have an appropriate peer group.

Our Open Evenings were held on Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th October 2016.
The Sixth Form team were thrilled to welcome prospective students from Bluecoat Academy, Bluecoat Beechdale Academy and those from other schools and colleges from across the city to their annual open evenings this month. The events proved hugely popular once more with the new £1.5 million pound extension to the Sixth Form building being showcased.
The Sixth Form’s reputation for exceeding national averages at all performance measures continues to draw in students, giving us another record breaking year in terms of both results over the summer and students on roll for this academic year. Based on the success of the open evenings, we are hopeful that this growth will continue.
